Our guides are certified by the World Paddle Association, US Windsurfing, the American Canoe Association, the Academy of Surf Instructors, ABK Boardsports and Paddle Fit. Owners

George Markopoulos, Co-Owner and Guide

George Markopoulos has been a Waterman for almost 30 years on the Delmarva, Hatteras, Florida, Kauai and on Maui. He is a sponsored team rider, an ACA (American Canoe Assocation) certified SUP Instructor, WPA Certified SUP Instructor, PaddleFit Level 2 Instructor, ASI Level 3 Certified SUP Instructor and a US Sailing Certified Windsurf Instructor. George volunteers as the Director of US Windsurfing in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is an avid lover of the wind, water and waves. All who know him know that "if it's blowin', he's goin'"...windsurfing that is.

In his prior life, George was an accountant and CPA. He earned his masters degree in International Management from the University of Maryland, but you would never know. He is definitely not the stereotypical accountant. His accounting skills sure do come in handy as he manages finance/accounting and H/R for DBSA in his spare time. George has a daughter, Kristin, who is currently going to college in Texas.

Janis Markopoulos, Co-Owner

Janis Markopoulos manages the Rehoboth Shop, the reservations desk, the beach concession, all marketing, purchasing, merchandising and special events. She is known for providing unparalleled customer service. She also provides most of the photography for George's Blog and for special events such as the Hatteras Wave Jam. Some of her best work is featured in Windsurfing International, Windsport, Windsurfing Magazine and The New England Windsurfing Journal. Janis has 25+ years of retail I.T. experience implementing retail point of sale systems, CRM systems, inventory control systems, reservation systems, social media systems and eMarketing systems such as Constant Contact eMarketing. Janis is often called a Marketing dynamo.

On cold, rainy days, you'll find Janis scrapbooking or creating newsletters for Delmarva Board Sports. She's super proud of her daughter, Lauren, who has a degree in Psychology from St. Mary's College of Maryland and is now employed with the college as their Assistant Director of Alumni Relations. Janis is an alumni of ABK Boardsports Windsurfing camp. She also serves on the board for Southern Delaware Tourism in an advisory role.

Tom Lepak - Windsurfing Instructor

Tom Lepak has been sailing and windsurfing for over 30 years.  He particularly loves flat water sailing, especially 'old school' planning freestyle, long board racing, and is now learning to use a slalom board. He also really enjoys light wind freestyle.

In (approximately) 1997 Tom began teaching windsurfing for ABKBoardSports on the US East Coast and in Texas. He has spent the last two years teaching in Bonaire during the winter with ABK. Tom worked as an equipment technician and instructor for Vela Resorts in Aruba for five years. Tom and his wife moved from central NY to Delaware in 2011 and love it here. Tom started working for Delmarva in 2012.

Steve Schneider - Senior Dock Master

Steve retired and moved to Delaware to enjoy the beach, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking and other outdoor activities. You can expect to see him working as a dock hand down near the water with the kayaks and paddle boards or using tools to maintain and repair DBSA equipment and property. He enjoys working with customers to make sure their DBSA experience is fun and memorable!

Steve McAllister - Rescue Boat Master

This is Steve's third season.  Born and raised on Delmarva, he is newly retired and excited to start this next phase of his life with us. We are just as stoked to have him!  Steve takes super good care of our rescue boat and he also drives our vans.  Steve is a history buff and model train enthusiast.  He lives in Milford with his wife Helen, and when he's not  on our beach managing the fleet, you can find him on his boat fishing in the Delaware Bay or driving groups of visitors to local wineries, breweries, meaderies and distilleries in our Brew Bus Van.

Yerkin Abil - Beach Support

Yerkin is in the United States for the very first time working on a seasonal work visa. He hails from Kazakhastan and is super stoked to be here this summer.  He is attending university and studying to be a civil engineer.  Welcome Yerkin!

Carla Keister - Guide/Dock Master

Carla is an ACA certified kayak instructor with 20 years of experience. She is a proud graduate of the University of Alabama... Roll Tide! She has been kayaking the Rehoboth Bay for 10 years and enjoys taking her boat out with her family and three dogs. Carla is a photographer by trade and travels frequently along the Mid-Atlantic to do so. This is Carla's first summer with DBSA- welcome to the team, Carla!

Aviah Stillman - Guide

This is Aviah's first season with Delmarva Board Sports Adventures. Aviah has been paddle boarding now for four years, and has been spending summers in Coastal Delaware her entire life. She also just graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelors in Civil and Environmental Engineering....Go Badgers! In her free time, Aviah enjoys spending time with family, drawing, running, rock climbing, and of course going to the beach. She has also been to Ecuador three times with Engineers Without Borders. 

Keith Hines - Guide

Keith has been in, on, or under water for the past 20 + years as a Lifeguard, scuba diver, USCG Rescue Swimmer, body board and SUP surfer. Keith now instructs Water Safety courses for lifeguards, and guides SUP tours. Keith always believes that the water should be both fun and safe.

Lewis McCullough - Guide/Dock Master

Lewis McCullough
Lewis has recently returned to Coastal Delaware after retiring from the Federal Sector.

It was always his dream to reunite with our resort town after growing up in Rehoboth Beach. His love of the sea and water sports has captured him ever since.

During a 35 year year career in the adventure sport industry Lewis worked as a whitewater raft guide, kayak instructor and stand-up paddle board teacher. In addition, Lewis directed a watersport program that specialized in supporting disabled Veterans, survivors of emotional trauma.  As a former Level IV, ACA White Water Instructor, Lewis brings a diversified portfolio to our team. 

In his spare time Lewis enjoys living on his “tug boat” and volunteering with U.S. Coast Guard. 

Claudia Branco - Guide/Dock Master

Claudia moved DE from NJ 22 years ago, where she grew up on the beaches of Isle City during the summer and attending school in Cherry Hill.  She is the proud mom of 3 awesome teenagers, who took to loving water sports just like their mom.  When not teaching special education students in Seaford, you will find Claudia with family and friend enjoying, crabbing, fishing, kayaking and gardening. Claudia has a creative talent and likes to create one of a kind pieces of art from driftwood. You'll be able to meet Claudia this summer.

Merritt Burke - Guide/Dock Master/Shop

Merritt was born in Milford and raised on Lewes Beach graduating from Cape Henlopen High School followed by Washington College and the University of Delaware.  He spent his childhood boating, fishing, surfing and sailing on the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean.  Merritt is an accomplished waterman who loves to paddleboard, kayak, sail and surf in his free time.  His favorite paddling trips are the Broadkill River near Milton and Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes.  When the surf is up, you can find him in the early morning hours at Assateague or Northside at Indian River Inlet.  No matter where Merritt is enjoying the ocean, safety is always the first priority.

Merritt has a background in municipal management and land use consulting, and has managed the Towns of Bridgeville and Fenwick Island.  He most recently was the CEO of the Sussex County Association of REALTORS.  He resides in Milton with his wife and four children all of which are on the Lewes Yacht Club swim team and involved with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He believes that Sussex County, and specifically, Lewes is one of the best locations in America to expose children to a variety of water sports.  He looks forward to sharing his love of the water as a tour guide this summer!

Max Keiper - Shop/Guide

Max has built a legacy of working hard and playing harder. You will find him discussing our coastal community, water activities, palm trees, and the Florida Keys. When he is not in the office or building something; Max is on the waterways in DelMarVa. He and his wife fell in love with paddle boarding in 2012 purchasing their first BOTE boards from DelMarVa Board Sport Adventures. His paddle boarding hideouts consist of Slaughter Beach, Bethany Canal, and among the mangroves and manatees in Marathon, FL. Always seeking new adventures and excitement, Max believes a successful day on the water combines safety and trusting your gear to add confidence in one's ability. Joining the team at DelMarVa Board Sport Adventures this summer Max brings a keen sense of customer service and knowledge of BOTE boards to assure success while you are enjoying your time on the water.

Carole Seibel - SUP Yoga Instructor

Carole is beginning her second year with us as our SUP YOGA instructor.  She is co-owner of Dewey Beach yoga. In addition to SUP YOGA, Carole and her partner David offer daily yoga daily in Dewey Beach at 8 a.m (Dickenson Street, oceanside).  Dewey Beach yoga offers Private Classes, Drum Circle, Bachelorette & Celebration Yoga.  You can follow their Facebook Page at DeweyBeachYoga.

Carin Langen - SUP Pilates Instructor

A former gymnast and dancer, Carin took up Pilates as a way to strengthen her core and promote whole-body fitness. It quickly helped her to tone and build strong, lean muscles without adding bulk. To continue her passion for Pilates, and to help others see the benefit of creating the mind body connection, she completed her instructor certification from Rock The Reformer in Washington DC, and continued on to become comprehensively trained through Balance Body. Carin has worked for several studios as an instructor, trainer and marketing consultant and has over 20 years experience in dance, movement and Pilates. She has opened Right Balance Pilates in Lewes, Delaware to bring her love of Pilates and movement to the beach area.  Paddleboard Pilates is being introduced as a new offering this summer.

Brian Roberts - SUP Fishing Guide

Brian Roberts specializes in Saltwater Fly Fishing on his BOTE HD. Brian is one of the Most Successful Fishermen in the World as he has won several fishing tournaments including the 2010 White Marlin Open with his giant 97.5lb White Marlin worth $857,000! He owns and operates White Marlin Outfitters and is a trout unlimited endorsed fishing guide who specializes in saltwater fly fishing excursions.

Brian has teamed up with DELMARVA BOARD SPORTS to offer a SUP Intro to Fishing Camp each week. You will learn how to fish off your paddleboard. Take your SUP to the next level by learning to fishing off your Paddleboard!

Dimitra - SUP Yoga Instructor

Dimitra and her staff have been teaching SUP yoga for 6 years with Delmarva Board Sports. She is the owner of Dimitra Yoga, (302) 645-9100,  and offers a wide range of workshops, classes, teacher training, travel adventure and festivals.
