George Markopoulos has been a waterman for over 30 years on the Delmarva, Hatteras, Florida, Kauai and on Maui. He is a sponsored team rider, an ACA (American Canoe Association) certified SUP Instructor, WPA Certified SUP Instructor, PaddleFit Level 2 Instructor, ASI Level 3 Certified SUP Instructor and a US Sailing Certified Windsurf Instructor. George also volunteers as the Director for US Windsurfing for the Mid-Atlantic region.
He is an avid lover of the wind, water and waves. All who know him know that “if it’s blowin’, he’s goin’”…windsurfing that is.
Tom Lepak has been sailing and windsurfing for over 30 years. He particularly loves flat water sailing, especially ‘old school’ planning freestyle, long board racing, and is now learning to use a slalom board. He also really enjoys light wind freestyle. In (approximately) 1997 Tom began teaching windsurfing for ABKBoardSports in the US East Coast and Texas, and the last two years teaching winters in the Bonaire with ABK. For 5 years Tom worked as an equipment technician and instructor for Vela Resorts in Aruba. Tom and his wife moved from central NY to Delaware in 2011 and love it here. Tom started working for Delmarva in 2012.
Steve retired and moved to Delaware to enjoy the beach, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, and other outdoor activities. You can expect to see him working as a dock hand down near the water with the kayaks and paddle boards or using tools to maintain and repair DBSA equipment and property. He works well with customers to make sure their DBSA experience is a fun and memorable time!
Ryan is returning to us as one of our guides for the first time in 3 years. He has spent his last 3 years traveling around the world along with working on a cruise ship. He is from Pittsburgh, PA and spends his days teaching English and coaching a high school hockey team in the area when he is not globetrotting. Ryan is a natural coach and teacher with a passion for the outdoors and fitness, so you better bring your “A” game and get ready to learn a lot!
Olivia - When she is not paddle boarding, you will find her playing sports, hanging out with friends, or just lying on a beach. Olivia has been paddle boarding for five years now,and participated in the Paddle Second Chance SUP Kids race and won! This will be her first year working for us, after many summers of anticipation. Her outgoing personality makes her very approachable and a fun member of the team. She hopes to continue her education in sports medicine and rehabilitation after graduating from Sussex Tech High School.
Lily is one of our dock hands this season. She has been paddle boarding for over three years and has lived in Delaware her entire life next to the water. Lily is in high school and plans on going to college and working in veterinary medicine. Besides paddle boarding, she has experience in photography, jet skiing, kayaking, horse back riding, four wheeling, and trying to raise any animal that she can get her hands on,including goats, chickens, lizards, birds, cows, cats, and dog. “No one ever said you couldn’t have more than one great hobby”!
Breanne just completed her Bachelor of Science in neuroscience and Spanish language and literature, so she decided to spend some time before graduate school living and working at the beach. In general, Breanne loves all things nerdy –from empirical research and brains to Game of Thrones and classic literature. Originally from northern Pennsylvania, she frequently visits Rehoboth Beach with her family, where she enjoys reading on the beach and the local outlet shopping. She also loves to travel a bit farther, as in the spring of 2016, when she spent a semester in Argentina where she learned to horseback ride like a gaucho, and visited Chile, hiking the Andes Mountains near the Valley of Death and riding a horse through the Atacama Desert. She is therefore excited for her next adventures (on the water!) with Delmarva Board Sports Adventures.
Isabelle will be working as a dock hostess as well as in the shop as a new employee this summer. She has lived in Delaware and grown up by the beach all her life. Kayaking, paddle boarding and just being at the beach are activities she enjoys every day. Isabelle attends the University of Tampa where she also enjoys these activities in her pastime. She is studying History Education and hopes to become a history teacher after graduating.
Rylie attends the Florida State University with a major in Exercise Science. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, surfing, snowboarding, paddle boarding with her dogs, playing the piano, and participating in medical mission trips. She also enjoys volunteering as an Emergency Medical Responder for her college’s Medical Response Unit and as a Medical Assistant for a family practice. She plans on graduating, travelling, and then getting a Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant.

In the autumn of 2016, they relocated full time to this resort area and look forward to becoming a part of it by discovering its many treasures, some hidden and some not so hidden. The local labyrinth and farms, the micro brews and wineries, are all here to be discovered. Bob looks forward to helping new and returning visitors to our vibrant area to enjoy Sussex County as much as he does.
