The Assawoman Wildlife Refuge is a wonderful wooded area surrounded by inland bay marsh just west of Bethany Beach, DE and about 15 minutes from our shop in Fenwick Island.

There are several launch areas in this off the beaten path location, such as Sassafrass Landing and Strawberry Landing. Free, limited parking.

You’ll see lots of birds in this area.

This is a family friendly venue and easy launch site. Sassafrass Landing has shelter from a south wind so this is a great venue on summer afternoons.

Porta-potty restroom on site. When parking, please be thoughtful. If the parking spaces are in use, please park along the entrance road prior to the porta-potty. Do not block the launch area by leaving gear at the water’s edge and please leave enough room for vehicle with trailers to enter and exit the area. Also, please be aware of posted speed limits.IMG_3153-M
